“In 2002, I had a fortunate collision of my personal and professional lives when I realized that work in ubiquitous computing could actually have an impact on the world of autism. I am the father of two boys with autism and for the past decade I have seen many different ways that computing technology can address challenges faced by a wide variety of stakeholder communities linked with autism, from the individuals and their families, to educators, therapists, clinicians and researchers. In this talk, I want to explain how a concrete application domain, such as autism and related developmental disabilities, can present a wide variety of opportunities for computing research.”
